Forward-looking cash flow management.<\/strong> Most businesses know their cash position today. A controller worth the salary knows it three months out \u2013 and has already flagged the covenant risk, the supplier payment squeeze, or the hiring headcount that needs to move.<\/p>

The salary is the starting point, not the total cost. Add employer NIC at 15% on earnings above \u00a35,000 (from April 2025), minimum 3% employer pension contribution, recruitment fees of 15 \u2013 20% of first-year salary if using an agency, and the cost of notice periods when the hire doesn’t work out.<\/p>
